Landeyjahöfn harbour

Construction of Landeyjahöfn started in August 2008 and ended in November 2010. Suðurverk was responsible for the quarry work, processing of materials, breakwaters, mooring facilities and passenger terminal. A quarry was opened on the slopes of Eyjafjallajökull at an elevation of 500 metres where 650,000 m³ of breakwater rock and 550,000 m³ of road fill were processed and hauled to the site. The largest stones reached 30 tonnes. Contract value approx. USD 25 million.
