Kvíslaveitur dams and canals

Phase 3 and phase 5 of Kvíslaveitur plus works at Þórisvatn reservoir.

Kvíslaveita is the collective name for a series of dams, canals, bottom-outlets and gate structures that divert flows from tributaries of Þjórsá and the uppermost Þjórsá into the Þórisvatn reservoir. Suðurverk built phase 3 (1983–1984, 1,300,000 m³) and phase 5 (1996–1997, 1,000,000 m³), plus works at Þórisvatn reservoir (2002–2003: 350,000 m³ excavation and 80,000 m³ fill).
