Sultartangi tailrace canal
7.2 km tailrace canal for the Sultartangi power plant, up to 40 m deep.
Suðurverk built the tailrace canal exiting the Sultartangi powerhouse. Work started in August 1997 and ended in October 1999. Over 7.2 km long and up to 40 m deep, the canal follows the river Þjórsá down to Búrfell. Volumes removed: 1,400,000 m³ of loose materials and 1,700,000 m³ of blasted rock. Client: Landsvirkjun (National Power Company).
